We are very excited about the book release on June 27th because this book is the first of its kind. The contribution and support of over 50 directors, supervisors, animators and story people were instrumental to making this book stand out amongst the rest on the shelves. We feel it is crucial to have books out there written by working animators who have been working in animation for years..

The knowledge of working professionals from a wide range of backgrounds, such as stop-motion, traditional animation, visual effects, and computer-generated animation make this book's content invaluable. This is the first book to bridge the gap between what traditional artists and animators have developed over many years and how to apply those time-tested techniques to CG animation. We are also lucky enough to have two great representatives from both the traditional and CG worlds write forwards for our book and we send big thanks to Floyd Norman, a traditional 2D artist for Walt Disney Studios and Hanna-Barbera Productions; and Richard Taylor a director, designer and CG pioneer.

Here is a list of the contributing authors to Thinking Animation:

Henr y Anderson, Bern d Angerer, Carlos Baena, Mark Behm , Chris Bailey, Tony Bancroft, Dave Brewster, Tom Capizzi, Brian Dowrick, Cory Rocco Florimonte, Dan Fowler, Angie Glocka , Eric Goldberg , Ido Gondelman , Evan Gore, Scott Holmes , Cathlin Hidalgo-Polvani, Victo r Huang, Ethan Hurd , Ed Hooks, Mark Keotsier , Bert Klein, Keith Lango, Laura McCreary, Darin McGowan, Cameron Miyasaki, Mike Murphy , Floyd Norman, Eddie Pittman , Mike Polvani, Fred Raimondi, Nik Ranieri , Leigh Rens, Keith Roberts , Troy Saliba , Joe Scott , Tom Sito, David Smith , Roberto Smith, Javier Solsona, Mike Surrey, Richard Taylor, Conrad Vernon , Roger Vizard , Don Waller , Larry Weinberg , Paul Wood , Bill Wright , and Dave Zaboski .

The art for this book is another incredible addition and to those artists Brian Dowrick , Floyd Norman, Mike Polvani, Troy Saliba, Joe Scott, Mike “Utah” Warner, John Riggs and Dave Zaboski thanks for all of your cartoons, comics, sketches and amazing artwork. You guys all out did yourselves. Without Jerry Beck and Tom Sito to keep our facts honest, this book would be a mess, so we would like to thank them as contributors as well.

We encourage you all to attend the events listed in this newsletter and please send us mail if you are going to be at Comicon or Siggraph!
